Grilled Cheese with Caramelized Onions

Sourdough, two cheeses and a spoonful of onions cooked down slowly with GUSSA. The onions are the recipe; the sandwich is the excuse.

Ingredients
- GUSSA Sweet & Spicy
- Olive oil
- Sliced onions
- Salt
- Grass-fed ghee or butter
- Sourdough bread
- Cheddar and Gruyère, or Muenster and pepper jack
- Optional: baby portobello mushrooms, sautéed in a little oil and white wine
Method
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
- Spread ghee or butter on the sourdough slices.
- Layer your choice of cheeses and a generous spoonful of GUSSA caramelized onions between the slices. Optional: add the sautéed mushrooms for depth.
- Toast on both sides until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve hot and gooey.
GUSSA caramelized onions
- Heat butter and olive oil in a pan.
- Add sliced onions and cook slowly over medium-low heat until soft and golden brown.
- Add a pinch of salt and stir well.
- Stir in GUSSA and cook a few more minutes until the onions are well coated and flavorful.
